FAQs

Please read the following FAQs as well as my Terms of Service before sending any inquiries.  If you still have a question, feel welcome to reach out to me on Instagram!

Why don’t you ship internationally?

I am an artist running this shop in my free time as a college student, which means that I currently do not have as much time as I would like to be able to sort out international shipping.

However, I’m working to offer international shipping in the future.  International taxes/fees/shipping costs can be complex for a small business like mine, but it is a goal of mine to have this worked out soon!

How do I take care of my ears?

Please see my “Care” story highlight on Instagram.  With your order, I will also send a card detailing care instructions, as well as a fine-tooth comb for first time buyers!

How do I adjust my ears?

Your ears are fully wired, and so you can manipulate their shape with firm but gentle force.  You can also slide them on the headband, which shouldn't be totally effortless.  If the wired connections come loose and your ears slide on the headband, see the next question!

I recommend trying on your ears, taking them off to adjust them, and then trying them on again (as opposed to adjusting them while they are on your head).

How do I tighten the wired connections on my ears?

There is a video in my “Care” story highlight showing instructions on how to do this easily with a flat pair of pliers.

How should I store my ears?

I recommend storing them on a wall hook (such as an ear hanger or a command hook) or in their original shipping box (such as for transport).

Do you take custom orders?

I do, please check my Instagram bio to see if customs are open and read the Customs page here on my website in its entirety for all of the relevant info.

I see that your custom orders aren’t open, but I want to know when they are.   Is there a waitlist?

I do not keep a waitlist at this time.  I will post ahead of time on my Instagram story when I am planning on opening custom orders, so I recommend keeping up with me there if you are interested in getting a custom order.

Why do you have an age restriction on custom orders?

Because my custom order process involves extensive communication in DMs on Instagram, I am comfortable working with adults (18+) only.  Custom order clients may be subject to ID verification at my discretion.

I like the ears but not the bows/charms/etc that come with them in their listing.  Can you change x or y before I order?

I have a policy against making any changes to premade ears (before or after you order).  This means that you should make sure you’re satisfied with the item and photos of the item (including any and all charms/bows/details) before you purchase it.

If you are interested in a pair of ears but want specific changes made, please see about getting a custom order.

Do you take CashApp/Venmo/Zelle?

The only payments I take are through the Shopify checkout (a list of accepted payment methods are at the bottom of the site page).

Can I buy a pair of ears before you list them on the site, or reserve them for myself ahead of when they go up on your website?

To ensure fairness, I do not reserve ears ahead of releases.

How do you make x?  What materials do you use to make your products?  What is your process?

If you are interested in making faux fur accessories, I recommend doing as much research as possible on your own!  I don't mind these questions from close personal friends or mutuals with which I have a good rapport.  I answer these types of questions at my discretion.

I post process videos, and while these are by no means intended to be a tutorial, you are welcome to use these videos as a reference for what you might want to research or try on your own.  I also share information about the materials that I use upon occasion in my reels.  If you see something in my reels that you are wondering about, feel free to ask in the comments.

What is your most important piece of advice to someone who wants to start making faux fur accessories, such as ears?

The first thing you buy should be a respirator or other properly rated particulate-filtering mask (and if you are planning on airbrushing, make sure you are using filters and other PPE that is properly rated for use with that as fumes and paints require a different filter rating than particulates).   Make sure you pay attention to the lifespan of your respirator and to replace masks/cartridges after the recommended number of hours.

Faux fur creates airborne particles as it is being trimmed that can cause damage if they are breathed in, which can be too small for you to even see as they float in the air. Faux fur is plasticyou don't want that in your body!  This is why it is also important to regularly vacuum your workspace.

The same thing goes for paint.  Even non-toxic varieties, when sprayed through an airbrush, are aerosolized, which concentrates them.  Work in a ventilated area!

It's also important to keep any pets away from the area where you are working; they don't deserve to breathe potentially hazardous materials either.

Even if you just want to try it out or pick it up as a hobby, please make sure you get the proper personal protective equipment.  It's not worth your health!

Why are your products priced the way that they are?

There are a ton of costs that go into producing faux fur accessories as well as many hours of labor.  I make each product to the highest standard of quality possible for my current skill set and as I improve my skills, I may occasionally increase prices to reflect an increase in the quality of my products.

My items are designed to be a high quality investment that will last you a very long time as long as proper care is taken to maintain them.

The price of an individual pair of ears also must factor in material cost  (such as in the case of specialty materials) and design elements (such as whether the item is one-of-a-kind).  While I am more than happy to discuss all of the factors that go into pricing art, I don’t recommend inquiring to artists about their pricing or asking for discounts—there are a lot of invisible costs in addition to the cost of skill and labor.

I run sales every so often, which I’ll announce on my Instagram.

What is the difference between inspiration and copying?

I welcome inspiration being taken from my work—nobody owns specific color combinations, concepts, themes, or ideas (i.e. “creepy cute” “fae” “Alice in Wonderland” "slime ears").  As a creator, I always work to make my pieces uniquely my own, regardless of their theme or color.  I recommend crediting makers if you are heavily inspired by them and if you aren’t sure whether you should ask permission to use a concept in your own way, I recommend reaching out to ask.

Copying, on the other hand, is inappropriate (to say the least).  Copying means that you take someone else's work and you reproduce a similar or identical version of it. Reproducing another artist's design is never okay.  This also means that taking someone's design and asking another creator to copy it for you as a custom order is not OK and I myself will not take custom order requests like that.
